Die Cutting or Stamping are processes of cutting a flat piece of plastic into a two dimensional shape, using a punch press with a steel rule die. This process is commonly used to make flat guards, shields, spacers & etc.. The stamping process is quite fast and many parts can be stamped out in the time that it might take to CNC or machine out one piece. This process is mostly used with thinner gauge plastics (1/16" and below). Often these parts are later bent after they are cut out to take a three dimensional shape.
